HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP TOURNAMENT
ascetta, (Glastonbury HS), of Glastonbury, CT. scored a perfect
3.0 - 0 for 1st place and the $2000 Scholarship to the
UConn School of Engineering.UCONN Fall K – 8 Scholastic 2013
Aidan Sowa, (North Kingstown HS), of North Kingstown, RI. scored 2.0 -1.0 for clear second and the $1000 Scholarship to the UConn School of Engineering.
Eric Hilhorst, ( Simsbury HS ), of Simsbury, CT took 3rd
and the $500 scholarship after defeating Giridhar Murali, (Trumbull HS), of Shelton, CT. in a hotly contested blitz playoff.
Giridhar did take home the Top Upset prize.
All Participants took home cool UCONN chess t-shirts as well.
Efimov of the IAR School in Farmington, CT scored a perfect 4.0 – 0.0 to
take clear 1st. overall. He also garnered the Top UPset prize.
Ramprasad of the Academy of Aerospace & Engineering in Tolland, CT took 1st
with a 2.5 – 1.5 score, in K-8, U900 Section.
Mason Pawelek of the Gideon Welles School in
Glastonbury, CT took 2nd with 2.0 – 2.0.
Sam Lumelsky of Bugbee Elementary School in West
Hartford, CT took top honors in the K – 5 Open with a 3.5 – 0.5 score. He also garnarded the Top Upset Prize.
Corcino of the Booth Hill Elementary School in Shelton, CT took 2nd with 3.0 –
Ian Sullivan of Buttonball Elementary School in Glastonbury, CT
copped 3rd place at 2.0 – 2.0.
Ms. Jade Logan of Thompson Brook School in
Avon, CT took clear 1st with a fine 3.0 – 1.0 score in the U700 section.
Connor Farquhar of Bugbee
Elementary in West Hartford, CT with 2.0 – 2.0 took 2nd place on tie breaks,
edging Sarvin Bhagwagar of St. Thomas Elementary in North Haven, CT who took
3rd. Mr. Bhagwagar and Max Pawelek of the Button Ball School in
Glastonbury, CT took home Top Upset prizes in this section as well.
Bugbee Elementary of West Hartford, CT once again bested the field for Top Team honors.
IAR School of Farmington, CT took 2nd Team honors while Buttonball Elementary of
Glastonbury took 3rd.
